Permanent ice-fishing houses must be removed by midnight on March 5 on Deerfield Lake in Pennington County and on lakes in Day, Grant, Marshall and Roberts counties.

The following streams are stocked in early October (plus early April in Swift Camp Creek) and have a catch and release season (no harvest) from October 1 through March 31, except in Swift Camp Creek where the catch and release season is October 1 through May 31. Only artificial baits may be used during the catch and release season. Statewide regulations apply April through September.

Mississippi River Pools 9 to 15: Ice conditions on Pools 9-11 are solid with 24 inches of ice on most backwaters. Ice fishing has been slower over the past week. On Pool 10 Bussey Lake reports slow fishing except right before dark with a few crappies being caught. The spillway above Harper’s Ferry has had slow to good fishing with a few crappies being caught there also. Due to the ice cover there has been no open water fishing for walleye at lock and dam 10 in Guttenberg.

The DNREC Division of Fish and Wildlife will hold a public workshop on the status of the Delaware oyster fishery at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 13 in the DNREC Auditorium, 89 Kings Highway, Dover. The workshop will be followed by the regularly scheduled Shellfish Advisory Council meeting at 7 p.m.
